What is Hospice Care?

Hospice care is given when curative treatment is no longer the goal, typically in the last six months of life. The aim is to ensure the care recipient is comfortable and able to live their last days as fully as possible.

The role of our HomeWell agencies is to safeguard your loved one’s quality of life in their final months with compassionate caregiving and emotional companionship in the security and familiarity of home. Your local HomeWell will work closely with your loved one’s hospice team to complement their existing care program, whether at home or in their facility. They can take care of cleaning, meal preparation, bathing and dressing, medical reminders, transportation, feeding, hygiene and more.

Our agencies’ Care Managers and caregivers are specially trained in end-of-life care. You can rely on them to:

  • Communicate with your hospice care provider to complement your loved one’s existing care plan.
  • Help with meal preparation, light housekeeping, grooming and dressing, shopping, medication reminders and more.
  • Provide respite care for family caregivers to give them more quality time with their loved ones.
  • Reassure, be present and offer companionship. HomeWell caregivers don’t just help with the tasks of daily living; they’re also dedicated to bringing emotional comfort in this difficult time.

Consider Hospice Care support if you or your loved one is living with :

  • Cancer
