HomeWell Owner Spotlight: Nicholas Bellenbaum
By Grace Styron

In this Q&A, we sat down with Nick Bellenbaum, owner of HomeWell Care Services in West Alpharetta, Georgia. Having served 20 years in the U.S. Navy as a Navy SEAL, Nick brings a people-first mindset and an unwavering dedication to mission-driven service to his role at HomeWell. With the help of his expert care team, Nick is committed to ensuring seniors and those in need of assistance receive high-quality, compassionate care that honors their independence and personal preferences.
Q: What was your career journey leading up to HomeWell? What factors influenced your decision to choose the HomeWell franchise?
Nick: After serving 20 years as a U.S. Navy SEAL, I transitioned to the medical technology industry, where I spent five years as a Program and Product Manager at BD, managing cross-functional teams and complex healthcare operations. During this time, I earned my MBA from UCLA Anderson, which deepened my understanding of business strategy and healthcare systems.
What drew me to HomeWell was the alignment of values—the franchise’s commitment to home care excellence, operational discipline, and compassionate care mirrored the principles I lived by in the military. I was also impressed by HomeWell’s proven systems, comprehensive training, and team mentality. As someone who has spent my career in service to others, I wanted to continue that mission by helping seniors and individuals with disabilities maintain their independence and dignity at home. HomeWell provided the perfect platform to combine my leadership experience, industry knowledge, and passion for serving my community.
Q: What was it about home care that stood out to you? Did you have a personal experience that drew you to this industry?
Nick: My connection to home care is deeply personal. As a 100% service-disabled veteran, I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating healthcare systems and the importance of compassionate, reliable support. I’ve also witnessed family members struggle with aging and chronic conditions, and I saw how quality home care made the difference between fear and confidence, isolation and connection.
What stood out to me about home care was its profound impact on quality of life. It’s not just about services provided to the clients—it’s about preserving dignity, independence, and the comfort of home. I was moved by the stories of families who could stay together, seniors who could age in place, and caregivers who became trusted companions. Home care reflects the best of what care should be: personalized, compassionate, and focused on what matters most to clients and their families. I knew this was where I could make the greatest difference.
Q: What skills, experiences, or personality traits do you bring that will help you succeed as a HomeWell owner?
Nick: My 20 years as a Navy SEAL taught me the fundamentals of leadership under pressure: mission planning, team building, adaptability, and unwavering accountability. I’ve led teams through complex, high-stakes situations where attention to detail and operational excellence were matters of life and death. These same principles apply to home care—our clients and their families trust us with their loved ones’ safety and well-being.
My MBA from UCLA Anderson equipped me with strategic thinking, financial acumen, and data-driven decision-making skills. My five years in medical technology gave me deep insight into healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, and quality management. I understand how to build systems, optimize processes, and lead diverse teams toward a common goal.
But beyond technical skills, I bring empathy, resilience, and a servant-leader mindset. I believe in leading from the front, supporting my team, and always putting our clients first. My military background instilled in me a commitment to honor, integrity, and service—values that guide every decision I make. I’m also comfortable with adversity and change, which allows me to navigate challenges with calm determination and creative problem-solving.
