Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between non-medical home care and home health?

Home health requires a doctor’s prescription and is provided by licensed medical professionals providing treatment at home. In contrast, non-medical home care is customizable support and companionship without a prescription, ideal for activities of daily living and everyday support around the house.

Can I use your services if I have home health?

Absolutely! Home health and home care serve different purposes but can work together to provide holistic support for your family’s medical and non-medical needs. Our local HomeWell agencies collaborate with your home health providers and provide the non-medical support portion of your loved one’s holistic care plan.

Are you licensed, bonded and insured?

We are compliant with any state registration and licensing requirements and our bonding provides an extra layer of protection for both you and our caregivers. Additionally, we have taken proactive measures to ensure that we are covered by insurance in case of any unforeseen circumstances. At HomeWell, we value your safety, security and satisfaction above all else.

How do you screen your caregivers?

At HomeWell, we only hire individuals we would feel comfortable welcoming into our own homes. Our pre-employment screening process for all employees is thorough, with nationwide background, criminal, immigration, and identity checks, along with competency testing.

Can I make changes to my schedule?

If you need to make changes to your schedule for any reason, whether it’s due to unforeseen situations, appointments, or other factors, we’re here to assist. Our team is dedicated to working closely with you to ensure your care plan aligns with your evolving needs and circumstances.

Will I have the same caregiver for every visit?

We recognize how crucial it is to have consistent care, which is why we make a conscious effort to assign you the same dependable caregivers that your family has grown to know and trust. While there may be a brief adjustment period, we are committed to carefully matching caregivers based on your needs, preferences, and family dynamics.

Can I get help today?

We can often offer same-day service and assessments. If you require urgent assistance or have immediate care needs, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our office, and our team will strive to accommodate your requirements and ensure you receive the support you need when you need it.

What is the process to get started?

If you require immediate home care assistance, we recommend calling us directly for the quickest response. Alternatively, you can reach out to us through our contact form online, and we’ll promptly schedule an assessment and assign a dedicated Care Manager who will start working with you to craft a personalized care plan.

Can you help me figure out if I have coverage?

Of course! Our dedicated care team is available to help you determine the scope of your benefits coverage. Simply contact our office, and our experts will guide you through your options to find the most cost-effective payment methods and care services that match your financial circumstances.

Do you accept long-term care insurance?

In many instances, yes. However, whether your needed services are covered will depend on your specific long-term care policy. In some cases, we may be able to assist you as you seek reimbursement with your insurance company,

Do I need a doctor’s order to receive home care services?

No. While we often work in collaboration with medical care teams to support a client’s established care plan, physician’s orders or referrals are not required when it comes to receiving non-medical home care services.

Does HomeWell provide home care services for someone living in an assisted living facility or nursing home?

Yes, HomeWell provides home care services wherever a client calls “home.” Our Care Managers will meet with the family to conduct a thorough assessment and develop a care plan that best meets the needs of the client and the environment in which they reside.

How is HomeWell different from other home care agencies?

We’re built differently at HomeWell, and it shows. From how we prioritize personalized care to our proactive Signature Programs, community partnerships and education initiatives and specialized care solutions designed to deliver the best long-term outcomes, we are fully committed to ensuring a happier, healthier life at home for your loved ones and peace of mind for your family—whether just for a season or for the foreseeable future.

How much does home care cost?

The cost of our services will depend on the individual care plan and how often you require care. However, it is typically more affordable than moving into a senior living facility. Our Care Managers strive to accommodate your budget and may also assist in identifying benefits to reduce the out-of-pocket costs of non-medical home care services.

Is home care just for seniors?

Home care is available for any adult who requires support with everyday tasks at home—that includes both the young and the young at heart. While many of our clients are seniors who want to maintain their independence at home, our young adult clients also benefit from home care support in regards to post-surgery or auto injury recovery, home transitions after lengthy hospitalizations, cancer treatment support, assistance in managing chronic conditions, and more.
